Agios Nikolaos


Agios Nikolaos is a small seaside village on Aitoloakarnania, Greece and is part of the municipal unit of Aktio – Vonitsa. It is situated on the NW side of Anaktorio and is washed by the crystal clear Ionian Sea. It was build in 1925 by Greek immigrants of Asia Minor. It has a population of 830 inhabitants of whom the elders involved in agricultural and fishing while the younger with tourist sector. At Agios Nikolaos you will be impressed by the growing sport of kite surfing. You will meet hundreds of kiteboarders during your visit in our beach. Also you will enjoy the crystal clear blue water and enjoy the sun.  Every year on the 10th of May, a lot of people gather from all over the area to celebrate the memory of Saint Nikolas, the Saint protector of our village. A program of traditional music and dance also accompanies the community event.

Sailing conditions

West wind is dominant here in summer months and it’s very steady thermic wind. From may to september wind blows regularly in the afternoon. Wind picks up around noon, around 4-5 p.m. is the strongest and it ends with a sunset, often even after it.

Security advices
Ideal spot for beginners to expert level riders. There is organized local school accommodation with rescue boat. Too crowd in high season.
